Medieval Roman Elites

A Varangian guardsman and a Cataphract cavalryman - the best of the medieval Roman Empire.

NOTE:
I'm using the term 'medieval Roman' to distinguish them* from their ancient counterparts, while at the same time referring to them as they called themselves - Romans.

*Them, of course, refers to the soldiers / people of the Roman Empire during the middle ages; with the Varangians obviously being northerners - Scandinavians and / or Slavs.
