Namorians I

My first pass at Namorian characters. These sketches are a sort of "testing the water" (pun intended) exercise for me. They're a great way to try out a look and feel for the people of Namoria.

At this stage of the project, I'm still wearing my inspirations on my sleeve, but, it's a good place to start. As I continue to develop the Namorians, their look might change, or become more unique and defined (I hope).

Even while world-building, I can't help myself but come up with characters to inhabit that world. What can I say, I love character design.

As I develop the Namorians, I want to zoom in on the everyday people of that place, and focus on their stories, be they thrilling and fantastic, or simple and mundane.

Here are the characters I've come up with so far:

Psolion, a humble fisherman who has a nose for sniffing out trouble. Very little gets past him, and he usually catches a scheme way before it's executed. Too bad nobody listens to him.

Thallasokia, known as "The Scribe", who may well be the smartest woman alive in Namoria, and has written many books about her homeland. A bonus of her profession is that she's clued in to all the newest gossip.

Epidamon, a veteran of many wars, who has mastered nearly every weapon there is. He has been called back from his comfy retirement to serve his homeland one more time, much to his displeasure.

Skellios, a master sailor with a great sense of humor, who knows the high seas like the back of his hand. He's also a shifty, no-good scoundrel who can't keep a promise or precious cargos from mysteriously going missing.

The Namorians are a fantasy seafaring civilization that I'm developing as a personal world-building project.
